Hair Cuts
This live performance confronted the many qualities through which my hair has been defined: Indian, white, black, Asian, frizzy, kinky, thick, ugly, full, gorgeous—both by others and myself. In confronting these projections, I questioned whether the presence of my hair directly affected my identity under those terms. And how cutting ones own hair has a completely different connotation than any conventional hair cut. The actual hair cut itself was completely spontaneous, with no end result set in mind.
