Fair Skin
By talking to different family members, I became interested by definitions and implications of fair skin both in the South Asian community, and outside of it. Within the community, the strong ideals seem to be both detached and fostered by Western influence. I searched for the definition in a physical sense by projecting Merriam-Webster’s definition of “fair” onto my own brown skin. |
